Cyborg will be making her third defense of the title she won from Julia Budd.
Former Strikeforce, Invicta FC, and UFC women’s featherweight champ Cris Cyborg makes her latest Bellator title defense next month.
Scott Coker told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that Cyborg will take on Sinead Kavanagh in the main event of Bellator 271 on November 12th.
Cyborg (24-2, 1 NC) is a perfect 3-0 in Bellator after she left the UFC as a free agent in 2019. She immediately won Bellator’s women’s featherweight title by stopping Julia Budd in January, then defended the title with her first ever submission win over Arlene Blencowe. In her first appearance of 2021, Cyborg stopped Leslie Smith with just seconds left in the final round.
Kavanagh (7-4) is on a two-fight winning streak, having stopped former title challenger Olga Rubin in late 2019 before getting a decision vs. Katharina Lehner last October. The SBG Ireland fighter has been with Bellator since 2016, after competing under the BAMMA banner for her first three professional bouts.
Bellator 271 will air live on Showtime and take place in Hollywood, FL. No other fights were revealed for this event, but we’re also five weeks out so expect the bookings to be revealed very soon.
