The ultra-popular flyweight just announced her engagement to a fellow MMA fighter on social media.
Paige VanZant’s life has been a whirlwind of success over the past few years, and now she can add an engagement to her growing list of accomplishments. The UFC flyweight announced over social media that fellow MMA fighter Austin Vanderford had asked for her hand in marriage and she has accepted. What you’re hearing now is the sound of tens of thousands of male fans crying in dismay.

So what’s the deal with this jerk Vanderford? He’s a 29 year old welterweight with a 3-0 pro and 4-0 amateur record. His most notable win is over Ben Fodor, better known amongst the vigilante / superhero segment as the crime fighter Phoenix Jones. So he’s basically beaten up the closest thing we have to a real life Batman, and now he’s marrying Paige VanZant. Well done, sir.
It’s unknown how long the two have been dating, but Vanderford first showed up in Paige’s social media posts around August.
VanZant has struggled lately in the cage, going 1-2 over the past two years. But that hasn’t stopped the UFC from continuing to push her as a star, and her events generating the ratings to back that assessment up. Her last fight against Jessica Rose Clark generated the best numbers for a FOX Sports 1 card in almost two years, so you better believe she’ll continue to be featured prominently on future cards.
For now she’s on the sidelines recovering from a broken arm suffered in the first round of the Clark fight, but we doubt that will slow down her roll. She keeps on popping up all over the place, from ‘Dancing With The Stars’ to the Food Network’s ‘Chopped’ to all sorts of TV commercials. Her book ‘Rise: Surviving the Fight of My Life’ is set to come out in April, and we’re sure you won’t be able to turn on your television set without catching her on various daytime TV talk shows.
