Cristiane Justino puts on 18 lbs. just six hours after weighing in for Invicta FC 15 and says she’s interested in a 140 lbs. catchweight fight with Holly Holm.
Cris Cyborg, who will defend her featherweight title against Daria Ibragimova at Invicta FC 15 later tonight, has put on 18 bs. just six hours after her official weigh-in. Cyborg, real name Cristiane Justino, was recorded weighing in at 163.8 lbs. on Instagram.
The Brazilian was originally set to face Cindy Dandois at 140 lbs. in an effort to prepare herself for a potential superfight with Ronda Rousey, but the fight was scrapped after “Rowdy’s” shocking loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193.
Justino, who spoke to MMA Fighting on Thursday, ruled out a move to the bantamweight division but entertained the idea of a 140 lbs. catchweight fight with Holly Holm.
“No more 135,” Cyborg said. “Superfight? Yeah. I think that’s fair. Somebody can go up a little bit, I’ll go down a little bit. She’s (Holly Holm) the champ and if she says she wants fight me, then we can fight. I think it’s good for women’s MMA if we can fight. She knows I cannot go to 135, it’s too hard.”
The IV ban, health reasons and a lack of energy were some of the reasons Cyborg stated for abandoning her move to the bantamweight division. The 30-year-old ruled the Strikeforce women’s featherweight division in 2010 and has looked unstoppable since capturing the Invicta FC 145 lbs. title in 2013.
Cris Cyborg vs. Daria Ibragimova will headline the Invicta FC 15 event later this evening at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, California.
