A report from UFC Tonight stated that Cris Cyborg would likely return at UFC 201, but Cyborg herself denied the report.
Fresh off of a quick TKO victory in her UFC debut, many were curious as to what Cris Cyborg would do next. She would clearly be a top contender in the UFC women’s bantamweight division, but still insists that 135 isn’t doable. So what now?
Well, a bout with another formidable striker would make sense. UFC Tonight reported that a bout between Cyborg and Germaine de Randamie was in the works for UFC 201 a little while ago, but Cyborg herself took to Twitter to deny the report. According to Ms. Justino, her next bout won’t even take place in the UFC:
@KarynBryant @IronLadyMMA @MeganOlivi
It’s not true I will defend my world title 145lbs next @InvictaFights— Cris Cyborg (@criscyborg) May 19, 2016
Justino (15-0, 1-0 UFC) defeated Leslie Smith in under two minutes at UFC 198 last weekend. De Randamie (6-3, 3-1 UFC), a former kickboxing world champion, has competed at 145 pounds in the past.
Will we see Cyborg back in the Octagon soon? Or will Invicta be graced with her presence? I guess we’ll find out in the near future.
