Father? Yes son? I want to kill you…

Former UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, believes he earned an immediate title shot with his split decision victory over former title challenger, Paulo Costa, as part of the UFC 302 pay-per-view (PPV) card earlier this month in Newark, NJ.

Especially considering how close Strickland came to defending the 185-pound throne when he battled Dricus Du Plessis atop the UFC 297 lineup in January. Unfortunately, those “dirty Canadian leftists” meddled with the scorecards and cost “Tarzan” the win.

The promotion has other (non-embarrassing) plans.

Du Plessis will make his first middleweight title defense against former 185-pound kingpin and bitter rival, Israel Adesanya, in the upcoming UFC 305 PPV main event, locked and loaded for Sat., Aug. 17, 2024 at RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia.

“I’ll wait,” Strickland wrote on Instagram.

Strickland, 33, soundly defeated Adesanya in the UFC 293 headliner late last year and believes he won the Du Plessis fight, as well, a position bolstered by this post-fight opinion. Whether or not Strickland gets the winner of UFC 305 remains to be seen.
