Dan Henderson ‘pissed’ about UFC 204 decision, could be lured to a third fight with Bisping

UFC and Pride middleweight legend, Dan Henderson is angry about his UFC 204 loss to Michael Bisping, says for the right money, he could be lured into trilogy-ending bout.

If you think UFC light heavyweight legend, Dan Henderson is just riding off into the sunset, happy as can be, you may have another thing coming. Henderson’s swan song was supposed to have been his title challenge bout with current middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, a rematch that was well over seven years in the making. “Hendo” ended up losing a unanimous decision in their five round war, despite dropping Bisping twice with his torpedo-like right hand.

Now, it appears as though the two-decade veteran may be having second thoughts about calling his career quits. In his most recent blog post for Champions.co, the 46-year-old, two time Olympian penned his frustration and anger with the decision,

“I still haven’t reconciled myself with the scoring the judges put forth for my fight with Michael Bisping. I finally got around to watching the video of it last night, and I’ll admit, I’m pretty pissed about it. I was going to say frustrated, but that doesn’t quite cover the range of feelings I’ve got right now.”

He went on to talk about the 10-point must system and Bisping’s appearance after the fight.

“I don’t know what type of fight anyone’s ever witnessed or been in, whether it be in a school yard, a professional arena or in a bar, where if one opponent looks like Mike did, if he looks like a guy that got his ass kicked…he probably did get his ass kicked. He’d probably be called by everyone the loser of the fight.

I’m almost positive that in boxing—which is where MMA got its 10 point must system—if one guy knocks the other guy down, it’s considered a 10-8 round. According to boxing rules, where this sport’s rules originated, I would’ve gotten a 10-8 score in two rounds.”

There was quite a bit more in his blog, and this is really just the tip of the iceberg, but the sentences that stood out most, were the ones that illustrate that he might be just pissed off enough to be lured into a trilogy-ending fight with the “The Count.”

“If this fight had happened last year, and I hadn’t decided to make it my retirement fight, the fans would have demanded a trilogy. Hell, I’m pretty pissed off right now, and for the right money, I’m pretty sure I could be talked into the rubber match, not that I think he would accept another invitation to get beat up again. At the same time, I’m content with what I’ve done and in knowing, if only in my heart, that I won that fight.”

It should be noted that shortly before his Manchester rematch, Henderson stated in another of his Champions blogs that it would take “multiple millions” to get him back in the cage again. As the commentators often like to proclaim, anything can happen in MMA.
