Dan Henderson warns Bisping ahead of UFC 204: ‘Be careful what you ask for’

“Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it,” Hendo warns Bisping ahead of their UFC middleweight title fight.

According to Dan Henderson, his middleweight championship bout with Michael Bisping will take place at UFC 204 and is set to be announced in the next couple of days.

‘Hendo’, who last fought at UFC 199 where he brutally knocked out Hector Lombard in the second round, delivered one of the most memorable KO’s in the sport when he starched Bisping at UFC 100. ‘The Count’ says he’s still teased about the outcome to this day and plans to redeem himself in the rematch.

Henderson, however, who plans to retire after the bout as one of MMA’s most legendary figures, warns Bisping that he should be careful what he wishes for.

“Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it,” Henderson told Severe MMA’s Niall McGrath and Petesy Carroll on the Talking Brawls podcast.

“I’m pretty sure it will be a pay-per-view and I’d expect that it happens relatively soon, possibly in the next couple of days. We should be able to get it figured out. I’m waiting to hear the exact date, and where but I’m almost positive it will happen, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t at this point.”

“That is my plan, win or lose I’m ready mentally to retire.”

The former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion has been competing in MMA since 1997 and admits that it’s time to take it easier, especially on the eve of his 46th birthday.

“My body could still probably go another two, three years more. I’ve put it through enough. I’m ready to take it a little bit easier, but still be involved in MMA doing something a little bit different than fighting.”

Hendo says the rematch is being targeted for a venue in Manchester, England — most likely the Manchester Evening News Arena where Bisping beat Denis Kang at UFC 105 — and could take place at the end of the year.

“I think I’ve heard a number of things but I believe it could be in a stadium over there in Manchester.”
