After Jon Jones caught wind of the news that Brock Lesnar had cut ties with WWE making him the hottest free agent in both wrestling and possibly mixed martial arts (MMA), the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion wasted no time in calling out the bruising Heavyweight.
And if Lesnar is truly interested in mounting an MMA comeback, UFC President Dana White is more than willing to book a 265-pound fight between the two former champions. That’s according to TMZ Sports, who got it straight from the horse’s mouth, but only if the two sides are “seriously interested.”
We know “Bones” is since he called out the big man once before, which prompted this response from the former UFC and WWE champ. Lesnar will likely take some time before making his next move because not only would AEW love to have “The Beast Incarnate” on its wrestling roster, Bellator MMA head cheese, Scott Coker, already expressed his interest in signing the big man.
Jones, meanwhile, recently announced his decision to make his much-anticipated move up to Heavyweight after dominating the 205-pound division for nearly a decade. While he is still trying his best to cut the championship line, White has stated repeatedly that Francis Ngannou vs Stipe Miocic is the championship fight to make next.
That means Jones could very well soon start shifting his full attention on Lesnar if UFC breaks out the check book and manages to convince Brock to return to the hurt business. A fight that would likely bag “Bones” his much-desired mega payday.
