UFC president Dana White is desperate to bring crowds back to his stateside events and is hoping the fact Texas is opening up will allow him to do so.

Earlier this week Governor Greg Abbot announced Texas is set to fully open up and its citizens would no longer be mandated to wear a face covering.

During the UFC 259 pre-fight press conference, White was asked if Texas opening up meant his promotion could get back to hosting events in front of a live American audience.

“Yes, as soon as the governor of Texas said that, I called,” White said. “Dallas said no. I’m working on Houston. We’ll see if we can get Houston done. I want to go to Texas ASAP. I’ll go in the next two, three weeks. I’m ready to roll. We’ll be first. We’ll open this thing up. We’ll sell it out and be on our way.”

The UFC boss later said he is ready to move one of his upcoming pay-per-view events to Texas if he gets the green light to do so.

“Could be,” White said when asked if UFC 260 or UFC 261 may take place in Texas. We’ll see what happens. I’m ready to go. I’d move this one if we could. I told everybody when this opened up that I would be first and we would go first – and we will.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)
