“I think right now he’s [GSP] ten pounds lighter than Khabib is. Something like that, somebody told me, so that’s pretty crazy.”
Dana White is finally warming to the idea of a possible superfight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre.
First, though, the UFC president would like to see Nurmagomedov defend his lightweight title against former interim champ Tony Ferguson, who is teased to challenge ‘The Eagle’ in the new year.
After that, White says Khabib vs. St-Pierre could be a ‘fun fight to make’.
“Tony fight has to happen first,” White said on Instagram Live, via MMA Fighting’s Jed Meshew. “Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib and obviously if Khabib wins that fight, the GSP fight would be a fun fight to make for sure.”
White also commented on St-Pierre’s recent 75-hour water fast, claiming that the former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion currently weighs less than Nurmagomedov, who competes at 155-pounds.
“I don’t know if you guys have seen pictures of GSP but he’s looking really, really, really f*cking skinny right now,” White said. “He just did like a cleanse or something. He’s in ridiculous shape still but he’s super lean. I think right now he’s ten pounds lighter than Khabib is. Something like that, somebody told me, so that’s pretty crazy.”
St-Pierre has previously expressed interest in the much-talked-about Khabib fight but, as of today, ‘Rush’ is retired. His longtime coach Firas Zahabi, however, believes his GSP would return to the UFC for the right offer.
