UFC president Dana White was in the mood to bet on Mikey Garcia to upset Errol Spence Jr. It didn’t work out.
It was almost a year ago that there was a report that Mikey Garcia was on the cusp of signing with UFC president Dana White’s new Zuffa Boxing promotion. Obviously that never materialized, but White is clearly a fan of the WBC lightweight champion, and he even went as far as to place a wager on Garcia to pull off the upset against Errol Spence Jr in Saturday night’s FOX PPV main event.

That’s chump change for someone as wealthy as White, but a bet is a bet and he stood to collect $33,000 if Garcia had defeated Spence.
Unfortunately for Dana, Garcia legitimately wasn’t remotely close to beating Errol. It was a one-sided beatdown that saw Spence outland Garcia 345-75, with Garcia not landing more than ten punches in any of the twelve rounds. The scorecards read 120-107, 120-108, and 120-108 for Spence (25-0, 21 KOs), sending Garcia (39-1, 30 KOs) to his first career defeat. Garcia’s corner nearly stopped the fight in between rounds, but let him continue all the way to the final bell.
Oh well… can’t win them all, can you? There’s always the blackjack table, anyway.
