Retired boxing icon Floyd Mayweather Jr. insists he’s not going to make his mixed martial arts (MMA) debut with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), despite teasing a billion-dollar comeback.
So I’m not sure what topics are on the table for today’s meeting with promotion president Dana White. Perhaps a co-promotion with UFC now that White and Co. are getting into boxing?
“Don’t count anything out on Floyd Mayweather coming over to the UFC, anything is possible,” White said. “You guys know I didn’t believe that McGregor-Mayweather would happen and it did, so anything is possible. I have a meeting with those guys today.”
I guess there’s always this rematch.
After disposing of Conor McGregor last August in “Sin City,” Mayweather (allegedly) retired from boxing with a perfect record of 50-0. But not before teasing a transition to cagefighting, which is apparently enough to get oddsmakers to lay down some action (see the odds here).
Then again, not every meeting with White ends on a happy note…
