Dana White: Misha Cirkunov has re-signed with the UFC

According to the UFC president, Misha Cirkunov is back in the fold once again.

After seemingly being done with the idea of re-signing Misha Cirkunov, UFC president Dana White has announced that the light heavyweight is indeed returning to the organization. It was only a few weeks ago where he said that Cirkunov was “really flaking out on the deal” and that he was “done” with the promotion, but in a television appearance on TSN in Canada today, he went in the other direction:

“We got a deal done. He and his wife flew down to Las Vegas and had dinner with me. Liked them both. Nice guy, tough guy. We had come to terms on a deal. I had thought he sort of went MIA on me. I honestly don’t know what happened. He came back around, we got the deal done and I’m happy about it. I’m glad we did, and I look forward to seeing him fight again.”

Cirkunov (13-2, 4-0 UFC), a 30-year-old Latvian-Canadian who fights out of Toronto, has seen great success in the UFC thus far with submission wins in his last three fights. It seemed strange to let go of one of the only prospects in the thin 205-pound division, but it seems that White has changed course and Cirkunov is back.

No date or opponent for his return has been announced at this time.
