Deiveson Figueiredo successfully defended his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Flyweight title for the first time at UFC 255 last Saturday night (Nov. 21, 2020) by submitting Alex Perez in the very first round.

And it was a thing of beauty.

Unfortunately for “Daico” — and to the surprise of many — he wasn’t awarded a $50K post-fight bonus award for his efforts. Those two awards were given to Joaquin Buckley and Antonina Shevchenko, instead.

Days removed from the event, it seems UFC President Dana White may have realized he made a mistake by not giving it to Figueiredo, prompting the outspoken promoter to make things right with his 125-pound champion. Indeed, Figueiredo’s manager — Wallid Ismael — has the video footage of White giving “God of War” a bag full of cash while saying “I f*cked up, I made a mistake.”

While it isn’t clear if it is indeed a post-fight bonus, it’s still not a bad thing to see the UFC’s head honcho take care of one of his champions. Something that isn’t all that out of the ordinary, right “D.C.?”

Now, Figueiredo will look to keep his momentum going as he is set to make a quick turnaround to defend his title against Brandon Moreno in the main event of UFC 256 on Dec. 12, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
