Dana White has Jon Jones’ back following a recent battery charge that was leveled against him.
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones got himself in more hot water this week when it came out that he had been charged with battery following an alleged incident at a strip club in April. It’s the latest in a long line of indiscretions for Jones, and UFC president Dana White has frequently vented his frustrations about Jones’ mistakes.
This time though, it appears that he has Jones’ back.
White spoke to TSN about the issue ahead of UFC 240:
“Some of the videos are coming back. I’ve seen some videos. I don’t want to talk about it cause I don’t want to hurt his case or whatever but it’s unfortunate, let’s put it that way. When you’re famous, these types of things happen to you.
“From what I’ve seen so far, when it all surfaces and comes to the top, it looks good for Jon. It looks very good for Jon Jones. It’s quite sad actually.”
It seems kind of strange that White would have access to said videos, and it’s amusing that he doesn’t want to talk about it so he doesn’t hurt Jones’ case – then goes ahead and talks about it. But at least for once, it looks like White will have the back of his oft-troubled champ.
Jones is coming off a split decision win over Thiago Santos at UFC 240 to retain his title. His next challenger has not yet been announced.
