In the midst of the UFC 204 pay-per-view (PPV) event that went down last night (Sat., Oct. 8, 2016) in Manchester, England which saw Michael Bisping defend his Middleweight title against Dan Henderson (see it again here), an interesting rumor has been hitting the world wide web.
And it doesn’t get more intriguing than a potential fight between former welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre taking on former middleweight kingpin, Anderson Silva; which was rumored to headline UFC 206 on Dec. 10, 2016 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
But as white told BTSportUFC, that fight is not happening:

“It’s so not true. I know everybody keeps talking about it, GSP isn’t even close [to fighting]. I’m telling you again, I don’t think GSP wants to fight. I keep saying this. You guys know fighters as much as I know fighters, do you think GSP wants to fight? GSP wasn’t crazy about fighting when he was fighting!”
And that’s that.
“GSP” has already confirmed he’d like to return to action, but since the promotion isn’t so keen on dishing out the Conor McGregor-type money to the ex-title holder, his plans to return are still on ice.
Furthermore, Anderson Silva isn’t too pleased with UFC officials at the moment, as he feels he and some of his Brazilian colleagues have been disrespected mightily by the promotion over the year.
As it stands, Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson are set to headline UFC 206 in a Light Heavyweight title fight rematch. For more on the matchup click here.
