Rousimar Palhares‘ unsportsmanlike conduct at UFC Fight Night 29 will cost him.

The Brazilian submitted Mike Pierce via his patented heel hook in just 31 seconds, however, he held onto the submission well after Pierce tapped multiple times.

As a result, the UFC decided against giving Palhares the Submission of the Night award due to “unsportsmanlike conduct.” But his punishment doesn’t end there.

UFC president Dana White told MMAFighting.com Wednesday night that Palhares will receive an additional punishment for his actions, but he wouldn’t comment on any specifics.

This isn’t the first time Palhares failed to let go of a submission after his opponent tapped. He most famously did it against Tomasz Drwal at UFC 111 and was then suspended for 90 days by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board. Palhares was also accused of doing the same thing in two local fights in 2007.

The finish marred what was otherwise a brilliant welterweight debut for “Toquinho” in his home country of Brazil.
