Dana White says he has an exciting fight lined up for Nate Diaz in 2021.
Nate Diaz could be returning to the UFC much sooner than we think, according to Dana White.
The UFC president was sparse on details but teased that 2021 could be an exciting year for the younger Diaz brother.
White ruled out former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson as a potential opponent but hinted that Diaz’ next fight will ‘put him in a really good position’ at 155 pounds.
Dana White to @oscarswillis: “We’re working on a Nate Diaz fight right now (at) lightweight… It would put him in a really good position if he won the fight and the guy who he could potentially be fighting, I think it’s a great fight for him too.”

“We’re working on a Nate Diaz fight right now (at) lightweight and it is not Tony, but if we get it done, I think you’re gonna like it. It would put him in a really good position if he won the fight and the guy who he could potentially be fighting, I think it’s a great fight for him too,” White told The Mac Life’s Oscar Willis in a recent interview.

Diaz hasn’t fought since his BMF title loss to Jorge Masvidal back in November 2019, and The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner hasn’t fought at lightweight since his unanimous decision win over Michael Johnson in 2015.
Although White says Diaz’ next win could put him back in the title mix, the 51-year-old didn’t seem too interested in a trilogy bout with Conor McGregor, who is scheduled to take on Dustin Poirier later this month at UFC 257. Diaz submitted McGregor in a short notice welterweight bout at UFC 196 but lost to the Irishman via majority decision in their epic rematch at UFC 202. The Californian is currently unranked at lightweight.
