Multiple time grappling medalist Dillon Danis holds Conor McGregor’s MMA jiu-jitsu in high regard.

Since UFC 202 in 2016, multiple time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gold medalist Dillon Danis has been Conor McGregor’s grappling partner. Having spent that amount of training time with the Bellator welterweight has gained massive respect for the Irishman’s MMA grappling skills.

“Conor’s been one of the best jiu-jitsu guys that I’ve ever rolled with, like MMA-wise since I started training with him,” Danis told The Schmo in a recent interview (transcript by MMA Mania). “His jiu-jitsu is on another level, and it always has been.

“I think people just underestimate him for some reason, but if it does go to the ground, they’ll see. They’ll see how good he is.”

McGregor has faced black belts and elite grapplers throughout his UFC career alone, but the BJJ brown belt has had submission losses to some of them. He tapped to Nate Diaz in the second round of their fight at UFC 196 in 2016, and did the same against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in 2018.

The two other losses on his record also came via submission.
