The daughter of UFC heavyweight Alexey Oleynik is safe following a deadly shooting at a high school in Florida.
UFC heavyweight Alexey Oleynik’s daughter is safe following a deadly shooting on Wednesday afternoon at a high school in Parkland, Florida.
The shooting took place at Stoneman Douglas High School, where Oleynik’s daughter Polina attends. She was in school during the time of the shooting. MMAFighting confirmed Polina was safe with Oleynik’s manager, Abraham Kawa, following several social media posts from the Ukrainian-Russian.

“No comment, terrible moments of parents. My daughter today. Shooting at her school.” Oleynik said on Twitter.
At least 17 people are confirmed dead from the mass shooting. The suspect has been named as 19-year-old Nikolaus Cruz, a former student at the high school who had been expelled for disciplinary reasons. Parkland is about 25 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale.
Oleynik (52-11-1) is booked to fight Junior Albini at UFC 224 on May 12th, at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The 40-year-old is 4-2 in six UFC bouts thus far.
