Former UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who transitioned to the commentary booth after retiring from combat sports, has been getting some blowback from the MMA community for his wonky work on the horn.
And he’s not the only one.
But UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz is too busy polishing his big gold belt (not a euphemism) to worry about this lukewarm take from “DC” and will instead continue to celebrate his victory over Israel Adesanya at UFC 259 in Las Vegas.
“They don’t see me in this fight, they just see Israel,” Blachowicz told MMA Fighting. “But I don’t know, I don’t care. Maybe they are friends and that’s why. What can I do? Nothing. But anyway, that was not a problem. I am just happy. I defend my belt. I am and still the champion. So everything good can happen right now. Nothing can change my happiness inside me. I don’t care.”
Blachowicz is willing to rematch Adesanya if “The Last Stylebender” can move back up to 205 pounds and capture a victory over a Top 10 opponent. Until then, the Polish power puncher will worry about his next challenge, presumably Glover Teixeira.
The Brazilian is currently a +135 underdog.
