KSW’s landmark 50th show takes place from Wembley Arena in London, England.
One of Europe’s leading promotions, KSW, now have a main event set for their huge, milestone event in London which takes place on Saturday, September 14th from Wembley Arena. KSW 50 is expected to be headlined by a heavyweight title clash as England’s Phil De Fries looks to defend his belt for the third time against Damian Grabowski. Both men are veterans of the UFC and will be looking to cement themselves as the number one heavyweight competing outside of the major American promotions.
Phil De Fries (17-6, 1 NC) has been garnering lots of interest in Europe over the last year due to his stunning career turnaround. The 33-year-old is currently on a five fight winning streak after alternating between wins and losses since 2012 which demonstrates how he is only now coming into his own as a martial artist. He won the KSW heavyweight title in his debut with the promotion by stopping Michal Andryszak via ground-and-pound in April 2018 before seeing off the challenges of Karol Bedorf and Tomasz Narkun. The submission specialist will be seeking to add another of the biggest names from Poland to his resume on home turf.
Following an 0-3 run in the UFC, Damian Grabowski (22-5) has bounced back by winning two straight after returning to competition in his native country. He made his promotional debut in May when he upset former KSW heavyweight champion, Karol Bedorf, in a clash that was billed as an attempt to find out who the best Polish heavyweight in the world was. Grabowski has only been to the judges scorecards in five of his twenty-seven fights and has shared the cage with Derrick Lewis, Anthony Hamilton and Cole Konrad.
This booking means that three title fights are currently slated for the card as Norman Parke is set to compete against Marion Ziolkowski for the interim lightweight title and KSW light heavyweight champion, Tomasz Narkun, is scheduled to defend his belt against an as of yet unnamed opponent. Greco-Roman wrestling standout, Damian Janikowski, is also expected to feature in London at middleweight.
KSW are teasing that this will be one of the biggest shows in their history so stay tuned for more fight announcements over the coming weeks.
