Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s featherweight champion, Germaine de Randamie, is not going to look past UFC Fight Night 155 opponent, Aspen Ladd, who meets “Iron Lady” in this Sat. night’s (July 13, 2019) headliner in Sacramento, California.
That said, she also wants the mixed martial arts (MMA) community to know that she’s got her eye on a potential rematch against reigning women’s bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes, who stopped De Randamie at “Fight for the Troops 3” back in late 2013.
After all, Nunes — like very fighter — is beatable.
“I believe that’s the fight to make in a way,” de Randamie told MMA Junkie. “I’m very explosive, everybody knows that. I like to knock people out, Amanda likes to knock people out. She’s a wrecking machine, she is a true champion. I absolutely respect her, but I would love to face her again. But she is beatable. Everyone is beatable. She’s the champion, she’s a true champion, and she’s an absolute world class. But she is beatable.”
Nunes has not tasted defeat since Cat Zingano pounded her out at UFC 178 in fall of 2014. Since then, “Lioness” has gone on to capture nine in a row with seven violent finishes. The only fighter to make her look human during that span is reigning flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko.
As for De Randamie, she’s the winner of four straight, good enough to land her the No. 1 ranking at 135 pounds. Assuming she can put down Ladd, there’s a solid chance the promotion will grant her a Nunes do-over.
Unless this comes first.
