Demian Maia will look to collect his third straight win this Saturday (Oct., 26, 2019) when he takes on Ben Askren in the main event of UFC Fight Night 162 inside Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore on ESPN+.
Before then, let us take a trip down memory lane to see some of the submission wizard’s greatest stoppage victories over his 12-year run with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). As one of the best jiu-jitsu practitioners on the planet, Demian has left behind several fighters with twisted limbs and memories of having to tap to his air-tight submissions.
UFC compiled Demian’s best finishes, so without further ado, here is the list:
Rear-naked choke on Neil Magny at UFC 190.
Mounted triangle choke on Ed Herman at UFC 83.
Rear-naked choke on Carlos Condit at UFC on FOX 21.
Triangle choke on Chael Sonnen at UFC 95.
Standing rear-naked choke on Lyman Good at UFC Fight Night 144.
Getting a submission win over Askren, however, will prove to be a tough task, as “Funky” has only been finished once in his entire mixed martial arts (MMA) career, a five-second knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 239 (see it).
Plus, Askren boasts some of the best wrestling in the sport, so Maia will have his work cut out for him if he wants to sink in one of his patented submissions on the former Bellator and ONE champion.
