Following a unanimous decision loss to Roy Nelson, the UFC has cut heavyweight Jared Rosholt.
Jared Rosholt’s uninspiring unanimous decision loss to Roy Nelson has marked the end of his UFC tenure. Bloody Elbow confirmed with UFC officials today that Rosholt has been released after just his 2nd loss in his last 8 fights. Rosholt (14-3) was ranked in the UFC’s top 15 in the heavyweight division as recently as March 21st (two days after the completion of UFC Brisbane), but was pulled from the list and replaced by Stefan Struve just two days later.
Steve Jeffery, Canadian sports radio host and current UFC rankings media panelist, noted the change on Tuesday night.
May be old news, but haven’t seen anyone mention it. Jared Rosholt’s been removed from the UFC Rankings index.

@Jason_Floyd Yep, currently not an option to vote for. Mitrione’s gone too, obviously.

The 29-year-old appeared on 5 main cards, which included the Nelson loss in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Hendricks vs. Thompson back in February. Prior to that, he was the PPV opener against Stefan Struve at UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm in Australia.
Rosholt has been frequently criticized and booed by fans for his fighting style, which has led to some less-than-exciting bouts over the course of his UFC career, and just a singular finish over Josh Copeland out of his six wins. That said, he received several main card slots, and was able to record three-fight winning streaks on two separate occasions. Rosholt’s only other loss in the UFC was by 1st round KO to Oleksiy Oliynyk back in 2014. It appears as if he’s the latest example of when winning isn’t enough to maintain your status as a UFC fighter.
With Rosholt’s release now official, he joins Rafael Cavalcante and Daniel Sarafian among the list of notable fighters who have been handed their UFC walking papers this month.
