Fresh off his stellar knockout win over Conor McGregor at UFC 257 a few weeks ago, Dustin Poirier is already looking ahead to future challenges. While a Lightweight title fight is his top priority, “The Diamond” isn’t opposed to taking part in other big fights, including a fight against Nate Diaz.

And while it won’t do much to improve his position at 155 pounds seeing as how he is already at the top, Poirier seems to be down to scrap at any weight class. And so is Nate, who responded to the challenge on social media by stating he’s down to tango in any division.

“These are fighting words, though,” wrote Diaz in a Twitter post which was accompanied by a video clip of Poirier cursing him out while laying in a hospital bed. “So fuck a weight class,” he added.”

The two were set to thrown down at UFC 230 back in 2018 but the bout was scrapped after Poirier was forced out with an injury. Unfortunately, the fight was never booked again, leaving the two men with the increased desire to settle their differences inside the cage.

Diaz hasn’t competed since losing to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in November of 2019. An extended break isn’t anything new for the Stockton slugger, who has only competed four times in the last four years to earn a 2-2 record.

That said, should a fight against Poirier come to fruition, it would be a great opportunity for Diaz to not only get back in the win column against the top-ranked Lightweight, but to also steal his shine — and perhaps position — as well.
