If anyone knows a thing or two about smoking, it’s Nate Diaz.
Former featherweight rivals Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier, who are now contenders for the lightweight title (held by Khabib Nurmagomedov), have been discussing a potential rematch for later this year, a 155-pound showdown that started as charity and (hopefully) ends with a pay-per-view (PPV) headliner.
Diaz remains unimpressed.
“Let’s don’t get it twisted I already smoked these two now they play fighting,” Diaz wrote on social media, before cryptically tweeting “165” — the same weight he tried to negotiate with Poirier back when they were in talks for UFC 230 in late 2018.
Diaz (20-12) submitted McGregor at UFC 196 in March 2016, but then lost their late-summer rematch by way of majority decision. I guess he considers this “mysterious injury” to be his smoking of Poirier, but after his bloody performance against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244, Diaz may want to secure another win before worrying about the rest of the division.
