We are just a few short hours away from perhaps the biggest pay-per-view (PPV) event of the year. Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will settle their trilogy in the main event of UFC 264, which will go down tonight (Sat. July 10, 2021) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lots of fans and celebrities will be watching the action, particularly the main event, both in person and online. However, perhaps the most interested party is UFC Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, who will be sitting cage side for the pivotal Lightweight contest. UFC President, Dana White, has largely guaranteed the winner of UFC 264’s main event a title shot, so providing the plan remains, “Do Bronx” will face the winner.
Speaking with TMZ, Oliveira explained through his translator that he was happy to fight either contender. “I am the champion. For me, it’s the same, McGregor or Poirier.”
When pressed to give his prediction, Oliveira responded, “Conor McGregor” and specified “by knockout” when asked further. Oliveira reiterated again that he expects to face McGregor in his next bout, likely later in the year.
Oliveira earned his Lightweight title back in May, stopping Michael Chandler for the vacant strap. Though McGregor may be his prediction to win tonight, Oliveira has promised to knockout either the Irishman or Poirier when he does defend his title for the first time.
