Dominick Cruz vs. Cody Garbrandt targeted for UFC 207 in Las Vegas

It’s being reported that Cody Garbrandt will challenge Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight title at UFC 207.

It hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s looking like a bantamweight showdown between Dominck Cruz and Cody Garbrandt has been added to UFC 207 on December 30, per Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting.

The pay-per-view, which features the long-awaited return of Ronda Rousey, takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Rousey, who lost her bantamweight title to Holly Holm last year, will challenge newly-crowned champion Amanda Nunes in the main event.

Cruz, who reclaimed the bantamweight throne after beating T.J. Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 81, has developed a heated rivalry with Garbrandt since ‘No Love’ began to storm the rankings earlier this year.

Garbrandt, 10-0, has won all but one of his fights via stoppage and has developed a reputation as the division’s knockout artist. The Team Alpha Male product last fought at UFC 202, where he blasted Takeya Mizugaki in the first round on FS1’s preliminary card. Prior to that, Garbrandt knocked out highly touted prospect Thomas Almeida at UFC Fight Night 88.

Top ranked 135-pound contender T.J. Dillashaw, who recently beat Raphael Assuncao at UFC 200, campaigned for a rematch with Cruz but is now forced to sit out or accept another high-profile fight until the dust settles at UFC 207.

The PPV takes place on December 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
