Donald Cerrone has always been an adrenaline junkie, so it makes perfect sense that he goes into business with a company with long roots in the same. On Thursday, Cerrone inked a deal to join the athlete management company Kevin Harvick, Inc. He is the first MMA fighter inked by the firm, which also represents racer Jeff Burton and pro golfer Jason Gore.
KHI announced the deal in a press release.
Harvick and Cerrone have been friends and done business together in the past, with Harvick sponsoring the UFC lightweight for at least one fight. Last May, he even cornered Cerrone during his unanimous decision win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC on FUEL 3.
Harvick was in the past also sponsored by TapouT.
Presumably, KHI will put their marketing and branding muscle behind Cerrone, drawing upon the similar demographics of NASCAR and MMA.
“It’s an honor and privilege to have this new relationship with Kevin (Harvick) and KHI,” Cerrone said in a statement. “I have learned a lot from Kevin and his management team over the last year and look forward to a long-lasting relationship both in and out of the octagon.”
Harvick has 21 wins and 194 top 10 finishes in his 13-year Sprint Cup Series career.
The 30-year-old Cerrone is 20-5 with 1 no contest in his career, and is scheduled to face Rafael dos Anjos at UFC on FOX Sports 1 #2 in August.
