The UFC’s 20th anniversary show is filling up fast, as a pair of three-time ‘Fight of the Night’ winners, Donald Cerrone and Evan Dunham, have agreed to a lightweight clash on November 16, 2013 at UFC 167.
The Las Vegas Sun first brought word of the bout on Friday, which was subsequently confirmed by UFC officials.
Cerrone and Dunham find themselves at an eerily similar crossroads, having sandwiched a decision victory between losses to a top-3 lightweight and No. 6 ranked Rafael dos Anjos.
Cerrone (20-6, 1 NC), who kicked off his UFC career winning six of seven, now finds himself outside of the top-10 for the first time following a brutal first-round knockout at the hands of lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and a recent decision loss to dos Anjos. The meeting with Dunham bout marks the fourth fight of 2013 for “Cowboy,” however he has just one win to show for it — his UFC 160 battle against K.J. Noons.
Likewise, Dunham (14-4) hopes to rebound from recent struggles and begin his ascent back up the lightweight ladder. The 31-year-old lost a ‘Fight of the Night’ decision to T.J. Grant last September, then picked up a split decision over Gleison Tibau before faltering against dos Anjos at UFC on FX 8.
UFC 167 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. An updated fight card can be seen below.
