Floyd Mayweather has his doubters regarding an MMA fight, but it doesn’t include veteran boxing announcer Jim Gray.
Floyd Mayweather continues to tease a crossover into mixed martial arts, with the most recent movement being welterweight champ Tyron Woodley offering to train the boxing great in the ways of kick and takedown defense. There’s obviously a lot of doubt that Floyd would be able to do anything significant against a pro level MMA fighter (let alone the champ champ Conor McGregor), but one man who’s putting his faith in Mayweather is Showtime boxing host Jim Gray.
”If that’s what he wants to do it’ll be fun,” Gray told TMZ Sports when asked about the potential crossover. “I think we got a long way to go before that happens. I don’t think that’s an overnight project.”
When informed about Mayweather’s six to eight month plan, Gray laughed but shared this sage advice:
”Don’t ever bet against Floyd Mayweather in anything. The man’s 50-0.”
An even more woke bystander then shouted out “Yeah, but not in MMA!”
Not in MMA indeed.
