Also getting the boot from “Fight Island” was fellow Brazilian Vinicius Moreira.
It’s been more than a year since Anderson dos Santos has competed inside the Octagon and it appears the Brazilian lightweight will have to continue waiting. That’s because “Berinja” recently tested positive for COVID-19 and was removed from the promotion’s “Fight Night” mixed martial arts (MMA) event on July 15 in Abu Dhabi.
MMA Fighting brought word of the change earlier today.
Dos Santos (20-8) was booked to fight Jack Shore (12-0) and as of this writing, there is no word yet on whether or not the 25 year-old “Tank” will remain on the card. The promotion has been pretty good about securing last minute replacements as of late.
Also getting tossed from the July 15 fight card was fellow Brazilian Vinicius Moreira. The 9-4 “Mamute” was in line to battle fellow light heavyweight bruiser Modestas Bukauskas (10-2) on “Fight Island” but like Dos Santos, will instead remain quarantined at a hotel in Sao Paulo.
Bummer.
