Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight, Todd Duffee, is just like Greg Hardy in that he’s being paired off against a fighter with a losing record inside the Octagon. But unlike “The Prince of War,” Duffee won’t be getting a six-figure paycheck for it.
Probably because the 33 year-old slugger, who was previously released by UFC for having a bad attitude but subsequently re-signed, hasn’t competed in over four years after enduring multiple injures and medical setbacks.
Seems like just yesterday he was setting records for fastest knockout.
“Hopefully I can go out there and get one of those Greg Hardy fights and I can get that six-figure paycheck and maybe they’ll start signing guys that are subpar for me to fight too,” Duffee told MMA Junkie. “That shit burns my ass. I want to take his paycheck. He’s getting six figures to fight guys that have been flunked out of the UFC on 0-3 records. Why is nobody talking about that? Why aren’t you guys telling the truth? I think he flat out deserves 100,000 (and) 100,000. That’s great. He does … but everyone does.”
Hardy banked $150,000 for his first-round win at UFC Ft. Lauderdale.
Duffee (9-3) will look to establish himself as a legitimate threat in the heavyweight division when he collides with former “Contender Series” standout Jeff Hughes (12-1) at the UFC Vancouver event this weekend on ESPN+ (more on that here).
A victory, particularly a fast finish, would undoubtedly put Duffee in a position to challenge Hardy at one of the upcoming UFC events at the end of the year, or perhaps early 2020, assuming “The Prince of War” is able to conquer Jarjis Danho next month in Singapore.
