Women’s Flyweight contender and kickboxing champion Denise Kielholtz delivered an IMPRESSIVE win back in Oct. 2020 … let’s watch it again!
Bellator 247: “Jackson vs. Kielholtz” took place Oct. 1, 2020, at Allianz Cloud in Milan, Italy. Two potential Flyweight contenders were set to meet in the headline fight as Dutch sensation “Miss Dynamite” Denise Kielholtz (5-2) met English striker Kate Jackson (11-4-1).
In her last fight, Jackson had gone the distance with Flyweight champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, losing the decision but impressing observers with her tenacity in the bout. A win over Kielholtz, the reigning Bellator Kickboxing champion of her weight class, would certainly have put Jackson right back on the short list of title contenders.
Kielholtz was on a three-fight win streak in mixed martial arts (MMA) coming into this contest, though, and had no interest in losing her place in line. Jackson may have felt herself equal to Kielholtz in stand-up, but one big overhand left proved her wrong and crumbled Jackson to the canvas for a stoppage at 43 seconds.
Will that victory propel Kielholtz to a title shot against new champion Juliana Velasquez in 2021? Only time will tell.
