As a fan of martial arts movies, I don’t mind when they speed up the fight scenes to make it more exciting. Take, for example, the epic showdown between Cynthia Rothrock and Karen Shepherd in the 1986 classic, Righting Wrongs (sample it here).
Nobody in a real fight can move that fast.
But hey, if I wanted to see real life, I would go sit on a bench at the mall and be depressed, so go ahead and give me something to get hyped about. Like this recent training video from UFC flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko.
She positively destroys the heavy bag at the UFC Performance Institute.
So either the footage was sped up to showcase her striking skills, or the afternoon traffic on the 415 in Las Vegas is setting a new land-speed record. Either way, it certainly doesn’t detract from her reign of terror at 125 pounds.
Her upcoming opponent, however, was not impressed.
“She sped up her video to make her sled look faster,” flyweight title contender Jessica Eye wrote on Twitter. “I didn’t know it’s a thing and people do that. Hilarious. Insecurity is a serious addiction that most individuals choose. I get it, social media is tough and people can be ruthless. But speeding up training videos is lip syncing when you call it a live concert … it’s just not right or real. Look I am not saying she isn’t talented, but speeding up video is beneath her.”
Eye, currently ranked No. 1 at 125 pounds, is booked to fight for Shevchenko’s title in the upcoming UFC 238 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event, scheduled for Sat., June 8, 2019 inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Just don’t expect her criticism to rattle the champ.

“Of course, I felt that I had to tell her something, because if the person (makes up) stupid things, you have to respond,” Shevchenko told MMA Junkie Radio. “Even if they don’t make any sense, this is my point of view, and I shared it with everyone.”
We’ll see just how fast that speeding “Bullet” can be on June 8. In the meantime, Eye also posted something from the UFC Performance Institute, though her version is slowed down to a complete stop.
