Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will make his second attempt at dropping to bantamweight when he collides with venerable 135-pound bruiser Pedro Munhoz at the promotion’s upcoming “Fight Night” mixed martial arts (MMA) event on July 15 in Abu Dhabi.
And he’ll do it as the +180 underdog.
That’s according to our fiscal friends over at BetOnline (www.BetOnline.ag), who peg the submission-savvy Munhoz (18-4, 1 NC) as the -220 favorite. “Young Punisher” has won three of his last four, including his technical knockout win over Cody Garbrandt at UFC 235 roughly one year back.
As for Edgar (23-8-1), he was originally scheduled to make his bantamweight debut back in January; however, “The Answer” stepped in on short notice to replace the injured Brian Ortega against Chan Sung Jung at UFC Busan last December, a featherweight send off that ended in Edgar’s second straight loss at 145 pounds.
