Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, who will finish up his hall-of-fame career in the bantamweight division, will make his return to 135 pounds against No. 2-ranked title contender Cory Sandhagen.
And he’ll do it as the +305 underdog.
That’s according to the bookmakers at BetOnline.ag, who peg “The Sandman” as the -370 betting favorite. That line marks the widest of “The Answer’s” combat sports career, who hasn’t been favored to win a fight since rematching Cub Swanson at UFC Fight Night 128.
Sandhagen (13-2) has been inching his way to a title shot after winning eight of his last nine, including last October’s destruction of Marlon Moraes. As for Edgar (24-8-1), he’s looking for back-to-back wins for the first time in nearly four years.
The Feb. 6 fight card, headlined by the heavyweight showdown between Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov, does not yet have a city or venue, but is expected to take place in either Las Vegas or Abu Dhabi.
