An exciting featherweight scrap is on deck for UFC 262 on May 15th.

Do you like fireworks? Then this fight is perfect for you.

Following a report from Combate, sources told MMA Fighting that a showdown between featherweights Edson Barboza and Shane Burgos is set for UFC 262 on May 15th. Barboza recently re-signed with the UFC with one fight remaining on his previous deal and the #14 ranked fighter will get to take on #12 in just over two months.

Prior to signing a new UFC contract, Barboza (21-9) snapped a three-fight losing streak with a comprehensive unanimous decision over Makwan Amirkhani. After a lengthy career as a perennial lightweight action fighter and contender, including wins over Anthony Pettis, Dan Hooker, and Beneil Dariush, Barboza dropped to 145 lbs last year and lost a controversial split decision to Dan Ige.

Burgos (13-2) has amassed a UFC record of 6-2, although one of those defeats came in his last fight against Josh Emmett. That three-round war earned Fight of the Night honors but snapped Burgos’ three-fight winning streak. The New Yorker was scheduled to face Hakeem Dawodu at UFC 257 in January, only for Dawodu to withdraw due to injury.

No main event or venue has been announced yet for UFC 262.
