“Let’s me and Kamaru run it back. We’ve got the most wins in the division, we’re the two best in the division. Let’s run it back.”

Colby Covington feels he is being untreated fairly by the UFC and wasn’t offered enough money to fight Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title, but British welterweight Leon Edwards couldn’t care less.

Now that a title bout between Usman and Covington is likely off the cards, and Masvidal is scheduled to take on Nate Diaz for the ‘BMF’ belt, ‘Rocky’ has turned his attention ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.

Speaking to MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin in a recent interview, Edwards said he would like to avenge his 2015 loss to Usman and capture the official UFC welterweight title in the process.

“F—k Colby Covington. I don’t like Colby anyways. I don’t give a s—t about what he’s doing,” Edwards said. “My thing is to get a world title shot. Let’s me and Kamaru run it back. We’ve got the most wins in the division, we’re the two best in the division. Let’s run it back. For me that would be perfect — him having the title and me taking it off him — that would be the fairytale story. To defeat the last man to defeat me for the title, I hope I get the chance to do that.

“My message [to Kamaru Usman] is let’s run it back,” he added. “We fought years ago and let’s run it back so I can get the title off you.”

Edwards is riding an impressive eight-fight win streak and currently ranked #4 in the UFC’s official welterweight rankings.
