Calm down, “Funkmaster.”

No. 5 ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight Movsar Evolev finally returns to action at UFC 310 this weekend (Sat., Dec. 7, 2024) against former Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, which goes down inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Yesterday, Sterling released a video on his YouTube channel about his confusion over being buried on the ‘Prelims’ portion of UFC 310 and not on the ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV)

“I didn’t know if I should have been insulted by the placement on the fight card or glass half-full,” Sterling said. “I guess that’s the best way I try to look at everything in life. I get to fight earlier and get to be done earlier. I was a little confused by it, of course.”

Today (Mon., Dec. 2, 2024), Evolev took to his social media to say he doesn’t care about not being on the PPV.

“Guys my fight will be broadcasted on ESPN, way more people will watch my fight than on the PPV,” Evolev wrote on Twitter. “I don’t even care if I’m the first fight of the night, I get paid the same. All my life, I worked hard to earn [everything]; nothing was ever given to me.”

While it is very strange to have Kron Gracie on the PPV over highly ranked Featherweights like Sterling and Evloev, the undefeated Russian has a point that more mixed material arts (MMA) fans will watch his fight on ESPN than if it was behind the PPV paywall, especially because UFC 310 is a very average final PPV.
