Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently released Episode 2 of its UFC “Embedded” video blog for the upcoming UFC 265 pay-per-view (PPV) event, taking place this Sat. night (Aug. 7, 2021) inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Front and center are heavyweight headliners Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane, who collide for the interim 265-pound strap. But it sounds like we’ll see less of Lewis this weekend in “The Lone Star State” and more of “The Black Beast.”
“You’ll notice as you follow him through the week, there’s less Derrick Lewis and more of ‘The Black Beast’ starts coming out,” head coach Bob Perez said. “He’s gonna get a lot more withdrawn, more quiet, that’s the way it always is. Right before we walk out Saturday night, that’s when he really hits that switch.”
Lewis (25-7, 1 NC) is the winner of four straight, including last February’s destruction of fellow contender Curtis Blaydes. As for Gane (9-0), he’s fresh off his unanimous decision victory over Alexander Volkov, his sixth straight win under the UFC banner.
