Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight contender, Jessica Eye, did not believe reigning 125-pound champion, Valentina Shevchenko, was faster than a speeding “Bullet,” calling shenanigans on this super-speedy video.
I guess she is that fast after all.
Shevchenko planted Eye in the UFC 238 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event last weekend in Chicago, a somewhat unsettling finish that left “Evil” immobilized for several moments. Fortunately, the former bantamweight is back home and doing “okay.”
“Congratulations [Valentina] that was an incredible head kick. I am thankful for the chance to share the cage with you,” Eye wrote on Twitter. “To my true supporters: thank you so much for all you do for me. I am okay and thank you for caring about me. I had a great camp and felt the best I have ever. I made some mistakes that cost me dearly. This fight game can be rough at times but it’s what I signed up for.”
This marks the first loss for Eye (14-7, 1 NC) since dropping to the flyweight division, where she now stands at 3-1. Unfortunately, her overall record under the UFC banner is 4-6 (1 NC), so there’s still some work to be done if she hopes to remain a title contender.
As for Shevchenko (17-3), she looks pretty much unstoppable after making the move to flyweight and is likely to face the winner of Roxanne Modafferi vs. Liz Carmouche, who collide next month on ESPN.
Perhaps Eye can fight the loser?
