Urijah Faber will return to the Octagon in his hometown of Sacramento opposite Ricky Simon.
Urijah Faber has an opponent booked for his return to the Octagon at UFC Sacramento.
“The California Kid” will square off with rising bantamweight fighter Ricky Simon on July 13. The event will take place in Faber’s hometown of Sacramento at the Golden1 Center. A verbal agreement has been reached but the fight has not officially been announced by the UFC, per MMA Junkie.
Faber (34-10) seemingly wrapped up his professional mixed martial arts career with a unanimous decision win over Brad Pickett in his hometown back in December of 2016. Simon (15-1) is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC and most recently won a clear unanimous decision over Rani Yahya. Simon will enter the bout as the younger fighter by 14 years.
Despite losing a number of key bouts towards the end of his run, Faber has only lost to top-flight competition over the final eight years of his career. Those losses include Dominick Cruz, Frankie Edgar, Jimmie Rivera and Renan Barao. Faber holds notable wins over Cruz, Raphael Assuncao, Takeya Mizukagi and Michael McDonald.
UFC Sacramento takes place on July 13. Other confirmed bouts include Darren Elkins vs. Ryan Hall, Beneil Dariush vs. Drakkar Klose, and Cynthia Calvillo vs. Livia Renata Souza.
