Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is no longer in business with the “California Kid.”

Former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) featherweight champion Urijah Faber, who went on to become one of the top bantamweights in UFC, was quietly released by the promotion earlier this week, alongside Victor Hugo, Kyung Ho Kang, and Danny Roberts.

UFC Roster Tracker provided the updates on Wednesday.

Faber, now 45, has not competed inside the Octagon since his knockout loss to Petr Yan as part of the UFC 245 pay-per-view (PPV) card back in late 2019. That said, the hall-of-fame bantamweight has remained active in combat sports in local promotions like A1 Combat.

It seems old dogs can learn new tricks after all.

Faber (35-11) is perhaps best known for his legendary feud opposite former WEC headliner Dominick Cruz, which finally came to an end at UFC on FOX 22 back in 2016. Perhaps his UFC release will afford the “California Kid” more time to poop-proof his Sacramento shack.
