UFC 179 card is shaping up fast.
Back to the light heavyweight division after a quick knockout loss to heavyweight contender Stipe Miocic, Fabio Maldonado has agreed to take on Hans Stringer at the UFC 179 card in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Oct. 25. The promotion announced the match-up on Thursday.
Maldonado (21-7) looks for his fourth win in a row at 205 pounds after scoring decision victories over Roger Hollett, Joey Beltran and Gian Villante. The Brazilian brawler recently replaced Junior dos Santos in a heavyweight bout against Miocic, but lost in 35 seconds.
Stringer (22-5-3) hasn’t lost over the past six bouts, most recently defeating Francimar Barroso via split decision in his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 38 in Natal, Brazil. Three of Stringer’s victories in his current win streak came by way of knockout.
