Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas, was offered an immediate rematch against newly-crowned division titleholder, Jessica Andrade, but turned the fight down.
So promotion president, Dana White, instead booked “Bate Estaca” against streaking 115-pound contender, Weili Zhang for the promotion’s Aug. 31 mixed martial arts (MMA) card on ESPN+ from Shenzhen, China.
That didn’t sit too well with some combat sports fans, who cried foul in the comments section of White’s Instagram post, featuring the first staredown between Andrade and Zhang during the promotion’s visit to Shanghai.
“One of the least deserving title challengers. Looking for that Chinese market,” user DanBrewer89 wrote.
“U sir are an absolute idiot,” White fired back.
“The attendance record for the UFC is UFC 193 which was a main and co-main of women,” Andrew Harvie commented. “Just cause you’re a casual who won’t watch anything not related to the big names doesn’t mean other people won’t.”
“BOOOOOOM!!!! Couldn’t have fucked that idiot up better myself,” White said. “Thanks for slappin dummies for me Andrew.”
Even Zhang dropped by.
“I’m always ready,” the No. 6-ranked contender wrote. “Get everything ready. So when the opportunity comes, I will not let it go. I’ll do my best to prepare. It’s going to be a good fight. Welcome to Shenzhen, China.”
No other bouts have been announced at this time.
