Dr. Anthony Fauci outlines how professional sports leagues could return to action in the summer.

While Florida has opened its doors to professional wrestling already by deeming it an essential business, other sports and organizations are trying to figure out just what to do going forward. The UFC is intent on running a May 9th event, though they won’t say where as of yet.

According to one of the members of President Donald Trump’s coronavirus task force though, stick and ball sports could possibly be back sooner than you may think.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), has a possible solution. In a conversation with Snapchat’s Peter Hamby, Fauci stated that sports could return this summer, but two strict conditions would have to be in place (transcription via CBS Sports):

“There’s a way of doing that. Nobody comes to the stadium. Put [the players] in big hotels, wherever you want to play, keep them very well surveilled. … Have them tested every single week and make sure they don’t wind up infecting each other or their family, and just let them play the season out.”

That’s one way of doing things, I guess.
