UFC 303 fighters just got a little more incentive.
UFC CEO, Dana White, was pressed for some historic bonuses in honor of UFC 300 in April 2024. It was an early talking point ahead of the event, and ultimately, White agreed, bumping up the typical $50,000 reward to $300,000.
A similar situation happened at the UFC 303 pre-fight press conference today (Thurs., June 27, 2024). When asked by the media about another bonus increase, one-half of the co-main event, top Featherweight contender, Brian Ortega, chimed in, requesting $303,000 bonuses. Consider it wish granted, “T-City” — just for two $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus, not the steep increase.
“Yeah, f*ck it, I’ll do it,” White said. “Not $303,000, but two [Fight of the Night] bonuses. Yeah, boo, you.
“It’s fun giving away more money for fights that you know are going to be f*cking incredible,” White added when speaking to The Mac Life after the presser.
Ortega, 33, has as good of a chance as anyone to secure a bonus in his thrilling match up with Diego Lopes at UFC 303. In his 12 career (8-3, 1 no contest, 16-3, 1 no contest overall) UFC fights, the two-time title challenger has earned eight Performance of Fight of the Night bonuses.
