Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar could not come to terms on a new deal with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), which opens the door for a potential return to mixed martial arts (MMA).
Count Bellator MMA among the interested parties, where Lesnar would likely compete against legendary heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko. Promotion president Scott Coker, like Dana White before him, has been working on that fantasy fight for several years.
Not surprisingly, the sportsbooks have already released the opening odds, which according to Best Fight Odds has Lesnar as the -135 favorite against +105 for Emelianenko. No question that line will move in each direction if or when both fighters put pen to paper.
Lesnar could also return to UFC — as the +265 underdog — and battle the likes of ex-light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (-350). That fight was already on the books once before, but the picogram fiasco sent those plans to the scrap heap in late 2017.
As a fan, I think I would rather see Lesnar take on Fedor. How ‘bout you?
